Pre-Season Parent Information

We're looking forward to another great Racquet Club Orca Swim Team Season in '10. We're very excited to introduce our new Head Coach, Christian Flessner. Check the web for his picture and a short biography, you may recognize him.

The '10 Coaches are really psyched for a great summer and are hoping to see all the '09 team swimmers back as well as many new team members. Tell your friends about all the fun you had last year and ask them to join the Racquet Club Orcas!

Swim Practice. Schedule:  The summer practices start Tuesday, June 1st and are every weekday morning divided by age group as follows:

Ages 11 & up: 7:30-9:00 AM
Ages 7/8 & 9/10: 9:00-10:00 AM
Ages 6 & under and new swimmers: 9:45-10:15 AM

Registration Instructions. The registration form is on the reverse side of this page; so don't forget to write down those practice times now. The form is pre-printed for previous team members. Previous team swimmers just need to change what is incorrect, circle a t-shirt size and have parents request their volunteer tasks. New team swimmers, please fill in all the registration information. We use email communication a lot. .

Team Requirement. All 6 & under Orcas must be able to swim half a lap (12 yards) freestyle without assistance and with their face in the water and their arms over the water, OR be enrolled in group lessons in addition to team practices until able to do so. All 8 & under Orcas must be able to swim one lap backstroke and freestyle unassisted. Freestyle must be with their face in the water and breathing to the side. If a. swimmer is unable to accomplish this then they are required to take group lessons in addition to team practices until able to do so.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities. The bottom half of the registration form is used to specify your preferences for worker assignments. We anticipate needing each family to volunteer for 6-8 worker units. Please be as generous with your time as possible to help things run smoothly; and so you and your children get the most out of the team experience. If you can pick up at least one job at each meet your child attends that would be great - many hands make the load light. Depending on your family dynamics (younger sibling?) both mom and dad can volunteer at the same meet.

Please refer to the. job descriptions on the web site for a description of each unit's responsibilities. The job requests are filled first-in-first-filled. This means, as registration forms are returned to the club they are numbered and requests are filled in that order. If there is a particular job you wish to do, please get your form in early.

Team Suits. We are in the second year of our two year suit style this season. Information and order instructions will be e-mailed to you in late March or early April, as well as information on other spiritwear pieces.

If you have any questions regarding the swim team, please do not hesitate to call the club at 630-355-5600. If you'd like more details than the club provides, leave your name and number and we'll have an '09 team parent call you. GO ORCAS!
